Good things that come in the mail

1. This week I received something very exciting via mail, but first, a little bit of background.

In the words of Secret 7'':
"There is something about vinyl that transcends every format that has followed in its path. An integral reason for this is that it's allure and functionality allows the listener to be absorbed by more than one of their senses.
Secret 7" is a project which aims to rekindle some of the excitement for sleeve art in the digital era by exploring how a track would be interpreted by an array of brilliant artists.
In April the Idea Generation gallery in Shoreditch, London will exhibit around 700 unique seven-inch sleeves inspired by tracks from The Cure, Florence + The Machine, Bombay Bicycle Club, CSS, DJ Shadow, Noah & The Whale and Ben Howard. The exhibition has an added air of mystery as no-one will know who designed each sleeve, or which of our seven tracks is housed inside.
On the 21st April – Record Store Day – through to close on Sunday the exhibition is yours to own. Each of the one-of-a-kind heavyweight 7'' records will be available to take home with you for a minimum donation to Teenage Cancer Trust of £40.
Every penny profited from the sale of these exclusive vinyl records is going to the charity."

Some of you know, some of you don't, but I got to be part of this amazing project and I illustrated a sleeve. We had to be super secretive about our participation because everything around the exhibition, the sleeves and the artwork had to be mysterious and surprising. But now that the exhibition is over, now that all the sleeves were bought, I think it's time to publicly share my excitement.

LOOK AT THIS! MY SLEEVE AND VINYL FINALLY ARRIVED AND I AM SO INCREDIBLY HAPPY!

So that's the number one thing that came via mail.

Here are a few pictures of the exhibition that I took from Secret 7''s facebook...

And a video of the opening night...

Thank you Secret 7''!
(To find out more about this project go to their website, like them on facebook and follow them on twitter cause they're pretty awesome)

2.  THIS IS IMPORTANT VERY IMPORTANT.
Dear people of the world:
I just realized I still have a few Oxford/Foals' lyrics stickers left (!!!) and I decided that I'm going to make a little give away, via tumblr probably. Eeeeeeveryone's invited to participate. Stay tuned! Cause I still have no idea how am I going to make this happen, HAH, but it will happen I promise.

So that's the second good thing that will arrive via mail because mail is a beautiful thing and if you are the winner you will receive these stickers via maaaaailllll.

See? Good things come(will come) in the mail.
Aaahhh I love mail.

Project No. 1: Stickers

As I said in a past entry, some months ago I sort of had a "creative boom" and I couldn't stop drawing! (Ahh that felt really good). I had lots of ideas and projects in my mind, and one of these ideas was to make some stickers and sell them or give away to some friends. I partially did it, as you can see in the picture below. It was just a little set of stickers inspired by some buildings in beautiful Oxford and some Foals' lyrics.

Also these girls, a product of experimentation (?), kind of. They were just there, chilling inside an envelope until I thought it would be cool to make some stickers out of them as a present for the guys from Bombay Bicycle Club.

Now this charismatic bear is still a work in progress. He was just a character in an animation I did last year, but I knew I wanted to do something else with it. Since this bear was conceived as an animation, all the limbs in his body are separated, the plan is to print every part by separated (duh) so you can put him in any position you like, so he'll be an umm, how can I say it, a customizable sticker? Fun right?? Yessss!

So far these are the only ideas I have for stickers. Ideas that I must execute! Hopefully in a few weeks or less I will dedicate an entry to this project and will share some pictures.

As always your opinions are very very welcomed in this blog, so don't hesitate to share your comments if you have any :)

Peace.

Memento Mori

Yesterday my mom and I went to the supermarket and we found a little hummingbird dying on the street. We felt really sorry for him and we picked him up to see if we could do something for him. Sadly it was too late and he died 5 minutes after :(

Life is short you guys.

I will always remember you baby hummingbird.

Angst

Last year I had the wonderful opportunity to study one semester abroad thanks to an amazing exchange program provided by my university. It was all pretty cool, got to meet lots of new places, gained life changing experiences, but what really amazed me was how, umm... my creativity was at its maximum level, if that makes any sense, I was drawing and painting almost every day, tried new materials, new techniques, new shapes and aaahhh and I had so many great plans about how to "make it" once I was back in "the real world", but it's been almost 4 months since I came back and I haven't done a single thing! It's like I have lost all my drive/enthusiasm to do things, I am just not productive anymore and I really don't know why... DUN DUN DUN I'm in limbo!!!

It doesn't help that I don't have to go to school anymore because, supposedly, I officially finished all my classes (cause the semester I spent abroad was the last semester of my career), but that doesn't mean that I graduated, because... thesis, and social service. Since I haven't started my thesis nor my social service I don't think I am considered a student, also I don't have a job (funemployed!), basically I'm not a productive member of society, basically. Limbo, again :(

As silly as this may sound, this limbo I'm living in is one of the reasons why I started this blog, I think that if I keep this thing updated it will somehow help me to put my life in order, little by little.

So, the plan is to keep a productive and positive attitude, no more staying up until 4 am and then sleeping til noon (ahaha I'm a joke), no more eating like there was no tomorrow, this weekend I am going to clean my bike and fix it and ride it cause I feel like physical activity is what's going to help me to be active agaaaaainnn!!! Getting closer and closer to ~adulthood~ hell yes.

I also need to work on a new header, oooh it's all under construction.

Have fun, stay young, be cool! Cool beans! Solid!

Hello!

Ehhh, finally, I decided to open a blog. Not really sure of where I want to go with this but here I am. I guess that, since I don't have a website, a blog is the best way to share my work, scraps, sketches and all the things I'll never upload to flickr or tumblr cause... I don't know. I will also post about the things I like (and dislike). Seems like a cool place to share your "opinion" too. So yeah, I'll be doing all those things and maybe more!

See you aroundddddd

(On top: a picture from that time I was in the Old Continent learning how to be independent, and is also a sneak peek of what you'll probably see in this blog.)
