Orange Caramel // My Copycat

Fractura Fanzine Collab

A few months ago, Stephanie, a dear friend of mine asked me to collaborate with her in a fanzine that she had been working on for a while, and now that the zine is out this little illustration can finally see the light and i can share it with the world! You can read (and SHOULD read) the first edition of Fractura Fanzine HERE, the theme is wanderlust, featuring tons of incredibly talented mexican photographers, interviews with Dave Ma, LSA and Sonido Gallo Negro, a Wild Beasts gig review as well a really cool article written by another good friend of mine (hey there Paz!). I'm super pumped about this and really proud of Steph for pulling this off and i really really hope you all read her zine cause it is SUPER SUPER GOOD. Take care friends!

Little sketchbook

one of my favorite things when traveling is to visit museums and of course their gift shops, i've been lucky enough to find really cheap stuff like some watercolor sketchbooks that were on sale at the Tate Modern (£1.00 each, it was insane!) or the little sketchbooks i bought when i visited the Fundación Mapfre museum in Madrid, they have impressionist paintings on their covers, very very pretty. the pages you see here are from the last of these sketchbooks. i hope i get to find more of these next time i visit a museum gift shop :)

大きくなる子 //trip down memory lane

Farewell postcard

A few weeks ago, one of my closest friends embarked on a journey to the other side of the world to pursue her dreams. This is a postcard I did especially for her. Needless to say, I'm gonna miss her loads, but I'm pretty sure Thailand is taking good care of her :)

First ever canvas patch!

I bought a denim vest a few months ago but honestly it looked really boring and plain, so, in order to make it look sweeter I decided to put a patch on it!

I have always wanted to make one of these so I drew a little something on illustrator, printed it on a piece of canvas (transfer paper, yay!) and sewed it to the vest, in my opinion it looks pretty rad. Also, check out my fabulous Foals pin, given to me by the lovely Hermine a few years back.

I've been thinking about printing more of these patches, so if anyone's interested just let me know and I'll make it happen!
-

"I'm so tired"

"out here i can barely see my breath, surrounded by jealousy and death
i can't be reached, only had one call. dragged underneath, separate from you all.

this time i've lost my own return, in spite of everything i've learned
i hid my tracks, spit out all my air, slipped into cracks, stripped of all my cares.

i'm so tired sheep are counting me. no more struggle, no more energy
no more patient and you can write that down, it's all too crazy and i'm not sticking round."

Some of my favourite countries are islands, part 4: United Kingdom

And finally, the last entry of the Islands series: The United Kingdom!
This is actually the only island I've had the pleasure to visit, well... technically I only went to England, but it was pretty amazing, great people, great music, beautiful architecture and lovely everything, I have very fond memories of Oxford, London and Manchester and  I keep dreaming about going back, hopefully my dreams will become a reality pretty soon, Cowley Road is waiting for me!

Now some pictures of the process and a few pictures of the pictures of my trip, enjoy!

Stay cool everyone. x

Some of my favourite countries are islands, part 3: Japan

Say hello to island number three: Lovely lovely Japan 日本!
One of my favorite countries ever, I must definitely go there before I die, and live there for a while if possible, that would make me happy :)

Here are some of the pictures of the process, I had a lot of fun doing this one. Enjoy! x

Character No. 1

Here's a sneak peek of a character I've been working on (only a color test). I think she might be japanese, even though her hairdo reminds me of Chun Li, and my mum said her shoes looked like baby shoes, hah, so I don't even know.
I'm still not sure of what I'm going to do with her, I'll probably make some stickers, that's for sure, but I feel like she's got potential to become something greater, hopefully I'll do her justice. x

Casita

I've always liked to draw houses and buildings, even though I'm not very good at it, I especially like isolated constructions, they give me a sense of melancholy and nostalgia, I quite like that. The house above is just a little sketch I did at midnight. And finally I'll share this song to complete the atmosphere. x

Some of my favourite countries are islands, part 2: Iceland

¡Isla número dos! Contrary to what the name might suggest, Iceland it's in fact, filled with mountains and beautiful green landscapes. Someday we will meet, promise.

Some of my favourite countries are islands, part 1: Australia

First entry of the latest project I'm working on. Some of the fishes are sad because they represent how sad I am to be so far away from Australia.

More islands coming soon x

Make Believe

It's been a while since the last time I actually sat down to draw something, I've been so busy with lots of other activities (like a huge altar for Day of the Dead) that I didn't had the time to make a simple doodle, lame. But it's all over now! So expect updates a bit more often :)

Today, I found inspiration in Foals' stunning new single "Inhaler". I simply can't wait to hear the whole album, I just can't!

Wish List

Ayuda.

Yours truly, Quetzallí.

(Google translate should do the job, also, there's no October goddess, I just made that up because I'm sad and helpless and unemployed and really confused about what do I want to do with my life)
